BACK TO THE BASIS
A collection created by WYTZE called: BACK TO THE BASIS. Therefor, within this collection, he is asking the question, Do we create our own chaos? In BACK TO THE BASIS, WYTZE is creating a new search for anonymity that will offer protection and will force the individual to imagine, without being polluted by the visual stimulus that we come across every day.
CONCEPT
the value of information seems to be lost. The same thing happaned to products during the industrial revolution . only now it happens to information. We can’t seem to get a grib on the world around us becasue the world around us has become so much bigger than in the past. in this over transparent world, all we try to do is percieve, understand and control one anothers informaiton. What if we would not be polluted by and not try to control this overload of information annymore? The essence of a personality and the foundation of what something is made of without all these informative decorations would create the space to imagine. Simplicity would become important. Would we now be able to imagine our future?
COLLECTION
Inspired by the way Fong Leng created a mystery around herself and her designs, I will develop a collection inspired on the design principles of the arts and craft movement. The collection will be a counter-reaction to the informational revolution. Fong Leng was all about decorating and making life more beautiful, inspired by Art Deco and Art Nouveau.
The collection WYTZE is presenting is going to get rid of all these informative decorations and offers protection against this information overload. By researching into the foundation of the existence of a product, exposing the construction, and visualizing this through materials I create the space to imagine what something could be. My collection will offer protection and will force the individual to imagine, without being polluted by this visual stimulus.
By using, on one hand, untreated materials like, padding, unbleached cotton, plaster, horsehair canvas, plastic and paper and, on the other hand, using reflective, shiny, glassy and paper feel fabrics that represent the medium that is spreading this information, I’m showcasing the informational revolution that we are living in. There will be a battle between uncontrollable organic shapes, fabrics, and colors, and simple, placid, geometric lines in natural, grounded colors.
Back to the basis is mainly inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement. The foundation of the arts and craft movement was actually based on the philosophy that art should improve the lives of ordinary people, should make good design affordable for everyone and the construction was often exposed to showcase the quality of a product. Therefore the collection will be divided into two different sub-collections. A collection fully produced in the conceptual fabrics and the same collection fully produced in calico. The calico collection is a cheaper version of the collection in which you are forced to focus on the construction and would not be distracted by materials and colors. This calico collection will be cheaper and therefore more affordable for customers that can’t afford the garments in the conceptual fabrics.
MATERIALS

Most of the fabrics are made out of existing waste materials. For example you can see a fabric completely made out of old news papers.
KNITS
within the knits, you can see experiments that represent the medium that is spreading the overload of information. Colors and yarns are randomly mixed to create an uncontrollable image that is representative of the uncontrollable information that we come across every day. To tone this visual stimulus down the knits are treated with plaster so only the shape of the knits remains.
LINE-PLAN
A line plan defines when a style is going to be loaded to the line, how many pieces to be expected (target) from the line and when an order to be completed.
